promises that they could keep their insurance and their doctors under obama care. that brings our totals now to more than 4.2 million americans losing coverage in recent days. it comes as calls continue to build for president obama to come clean about his broken promises. from the left, from the right, from the mainstream media, from his critics and supporters, we are now hearing more people come out and say the president needs to the level with the american people about why he told them at least 36 times before, during and after the passage of obama care that if they liked their plans they could keep them, period. tonight in the wake of the mounting pressure he took to the microphones in a speech about the health care law and said this. >> the first month i have not been happy with. you have all heard about the website woes. nothing drives me more crazy than the fact that right now there is great insurance to be had out there except too many folks haven't been able to get through the website. this is like having a really good product in the store and the cash registers don't work and th
. democrats were plus-7, when president obama got elected last year. and they were there. last night, when terry mcauliffe won the governorship. if you get presidential election type turnout in virginia, from here on out in all of their elections, republicans will never win again in that state. look specifically at the african-american turnout. when the republicans won that governorship back in 2009, the black turnout was 16%. when president obama was on the ballot last year, black turnout turned up to 20% of the electorate. last night again, black turnout was 20% of the electorate. african-american voters in virginia turned out. even though it was not a presidential year. even though it was an off-off year. and if african-american voters can turn out like that again in every election in virginia, that is a nightmare for the republican party. so yeah, ken cuccinelli lost, and the republicans lost the governorship. both of those are history-defying, bad news, bad bench marks for the republican party. and who turned out, looks bad for virginia republicans not just for last night's race but f

here. we are definitely looking out for you. >>> breaking tonight the obama care numbers are out and in the words of the architect of the president's signature legislative achievement, we are disappointed. dr. emmanuel joins me live later tonight for round two of our spirited the discussion. but first welcome to "the kelly file." i'm megyn kelly. just hours ago we learned that the numbers appear to be even worse than originally reported. less than 27,000 enrolling in the federally run exchanges. 27,000. as for the state-run exchanges that have been working better less than 80,000 signed up there. we don't know how many, if any of the people have paid for the plans as opposed to saying they want them and putting them in the shopping cart. meantime tax-pair funded health care is popular. the medicaid roles spiking by nearly 400,000 people. look at the disparity there. the biggest number of all, now more than 5 million americans who have lost their health insurance despite president obama's pledge that if you like your health care plan, you can keep it, period. now those 5 million a
of the end of obama care. tonight the president is in pennsylvania attending a private fundraiser. hours ago he faced the american people and announced the so-called fix for more than 5 million people who have seen their insurance policies cancelled despite repeated promises that they could keep their plans. in a major about face the president told insurers they can renew the policies if they want to at least for now. listen. >> so state insurance commissioners still have the power to decide what plans can and can't be sold in their states but the bottom line is insurers can extend current plans that would otherwise be cancelled into 2014. >> this comes just one day after we learned that fewer than 27,000 people have enrolled in the federal exchanges that are supposed to help finance obama care. with the exchanges struggling for enrollees the president has potentially allowed millions of people who he was counting on to join the exchanges to instead avoid them. that could spell disaster for this law. more on that later. still a number of democrats said the fix doesn't go far enough. and the

, as chris stirewalt mentioned, is a really bad thing for obama care and democrats. >> so whoever wins in virginia, and if it is the northern virginia suburbs that are still outstanding, that is very good for mcauliffe. but because obama care has been such a factor late in this race and the exit polls so far have told us that, what does that portend for those who are looking forward to the 2014 elections? >> it portends bad things for democrats in the red states. that is a bad sign, this race, even if mcauliffe wins by two to four points, that is a sign that obama care moved this significantly. remember, virginia is a state that dealt with the government shutdown. when it happened, it really opened the lead for mcauliffe, it affected the race greatly. when obama care rolled out, it affected this race drastically. as the night went on, we got another wave of exit polls. that spread, and then the state was 53% opposed, 45% support that suggested that obama care opposition made a big difference. >> and of those who opposed obama care, they overwhelmly voted for the republican. >> 80/11, 8

said. it has shown from the beginning that president obama doesn't deserve the decency accorded other american presidents. his enemies have called him an illegal immigrant, a street corner con artist, a fraud, a march yourian candidate brought to this country to undermine all we stand for. well, now dick cheney comes right out and calls him a liar when a right wing back bencher did that's four years ago he was called out for rebuke even by his own party. now what was condemned as historic bad behavior comes snarling out of dick cheney's mouth and nobody says to shut up. we can argue as we do here about the problems implementing the affordable care act. but is this, calling the president a liar, the new language of american politics? or is it a language specially treated for the country's first african-american president? is this president of a lower caste than those elected to the office before. or those on the right even believe he is the legitimate president of the united states. or someone like him could be. at least we know the top republican in the country refuses to condemn the

the obama 2o 12 playbook. he ran up the score especially in the washington suburbs. in suburb and richmond, democratic state senator easily beat the republican winning the contest by double-digits. the attorney general's race remains too close to call with 99% of the vote in. the democrat mark herring leads them by just over 600 votes. in virginia we do this in the attorney general races a lot these days. bob mcdonald had the nail biter like that. they can request a recount if it's less than 1% of the vote. we will see a rebound in that race. chris christie won reelection in a landslide with 60% of the vote in a state that the president won by 17 points. new york city will have the first democratic mayor in two decad decades. the 109th mayor by a big margin and they chose a progressive path. you got that right. in boston, marty walsh will precede the longest serving mayor. the city councilman with the support of organized labor. here's one should you know about. they -elected the first white mayor in nearly four decades. he ran on the financial turn around and defeated wayne county sheriff
